Growing Tension at LoC | Editorial

INDIA is flaring up tension at the line of control to divert world attention from countrywide protests against anti-Muslim legislation as well as the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir which has been under siege ever since the revocation of special status of the territory back on 5th August.
Given the belligerence shown especially by Modi government against Pakistan, the fascist country can resort to any misadventure against its neighbour – the consequences of which will be disastrous for the already volatile region. Addressing a news conference on Sunday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also drew attention towards the serious situation prevailing on the LoC saying India has cut fence at five points of the LoC and the Working Boundary and installed missiles aiming at Pakistan. We have no doubt in the capability of our armed forces to defend every inch of the motherland and force the enemy to bite the dust and one saw its recent demonstration back in February when our air force shot down their two aircraft. However, any breakout of a conflict will have serious implications and the situation created by New Delhi at the LoC should raise alarm bells at the international level especially the major capitals need to come forward and use their influence to stop India from any aggression. Situation in fact warrants an emergency session of the UN Security Council that should in categorical terms condemn Indian acts in occupied Kashmir as well as the discriminatory legislation Citizenship Amendment Act and demand reversal of the same. As per his track record, Modi is now targeting entire Muslim population in India through controversial legislation after revoking the special status of the IoK and it’s time that the Ummah speaks with one voice for the rights of Indian Muslims. The meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers should be held at the earliest and that too in Islamabad to convey a clear message that they are united for the rights of people of IoK and that of the Indian Muslims. This meeting should not be mere a sitting of few hours but also come up with some strong punitive measures including boycott of Indian products if it does not do the course correction.
