IN yet another clear manifestation that India is not at all interested in normalization of relations with Pakistan, the authorities in New Delhi put the capital on high alert and security was beefed up at vital installations, important buildings and crowded places. Police claimed, it received inputs about a potential terror strike in the city by ten suspected LeT and JeM militants who are learnt to have entered India through Gujarat.
This seems to be part of the propaganda campaign aimed at maligning and defacing Pakistan by linking it every now and then with incidents of terrorism. There have also been genuine concerns in Pakistan that terror attacks are being engineered by Indian intelligence agencies with the objective of derailing the prospects of peace between the two countries and putting Pakistan under pressure. In the first place, how is it possible that any militant outfit in Pakistan can plan or execute an attack when there is already high alert in India in the wake of Pathankot incident? Secondly, if you have concrete and substantial evidence of terrorists sneaking into specific cities and you also know their number then why you are not taking measures to apprehend them? It is also unbelievable that something of the sort would happen at a time when Pakistan is extending unprecedented cooperation to India in investigating the Pathankot attack. Pakistan has formed a Special Investigation Team, an FIR has already been registered and the investigating team has sought permission to visit the scene of the incident in Pathankot to gather necessary information and evidence. In fact, there are concerns about safety and security of Pakistani cricket team during its visit to that country in view of brazen threats being hurled by Hindu extremist organizations. We believe that by ringing false alarm bells, Indians are trying to divert attention from black deeds of its own extremist elements at the cost of maligning Pakistan. The latest development has made it absolutely clear that Indians have no plan to resume comprehensive dialogue process as they are not serious in addressing core issues. They are, therefore, indulging in such gimmicks to shift the blame on Pakistan for derailing of the peace process.
