Most American voters disapprove of the way Trump is managing military action in Iran, according to a poll.

A‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ newly published poll reveals that a majority of American voters are against President Donald Trump's military confrontation with Iran.

The United States, under Trump's command, cooperated with Israel and initiated military attacks on Iran during the weekend as part of an operation named “Epic Fury.”

The Associated Press reported that these attacks resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many other senior officials. Iran struck back with attacks on Israel and some Gulf states. Also, six U.S. soldiers died in an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait.

A survey by Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies for NBC News revealed that 54 percent of American voters disapproved of Trump's management of the Iran crisis, whereas 41 percent gave their approval.

On being asked whether the U.S. should have taken military action against Iran, a majority of 52 percent of voters responded negatively. On the other hand, only 41 percent were in favor of Trump's decision.

Trump secured the 2024 election by appealing to the “America First” sentiment. During his victory speech, he asserted, “I’m not going to start a war. I’m going to stop wars.”

According to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, the strikes by US and Israel will not lead to an “endless” war.

“It’s not Iraq. It won’t be a never-ending situation,” Hegseth remarked, alluding to the United States-led coallition invasion of Iraq that started in 2003 and ended in 2011.

The goal of Operation Epic Fury, according to U.S. Central Command, is to “dismantle the Iranian regime’s security apparatus.” Furthermore, Trump stated, without proof, that Iran was on the verge of attacking U.S. troops before the airstrikes.

During the week, Trump also indicated that the U.S. military engagement in Iran may last at least “four to five weeks,” and he also noted, “We have the ability to go much longer.”

On Tuesday, the Senate, dominated by Republicans, was unable to pass a War Powers Resolution that aimed to mandate Congress' consent for any further military ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌strikes.
